Morris County, New Jersey, April 8, 2015 – Through the gift of an anonymous donor the Morris County Track Club (“MCTC”) will make 15 MCTC Club Registration Scholarships available for youth runners (eleven of the scholarships will be designated for female athletes). The Scholarships are for the 2015 Spring Season, which runs from April through August. All scholarship recipients must be youth athletes, boys and girls, who are between the ages of nine and twelve. The entry deadline is Sunday, April 19th.

Three awards are for 11-12 year-old girl sprinters who were born in 2003 and 2004. Four awards are for 9-10 year-old girl sprinters who were born in 2005 and 2006. Four awards are for 11-12 year-old boys mid/distance runners who were born in 2003 and 2004. Four awards are for 11-12 year-old girls mid/distance runners who were born in 2003 and 2004.

MCTC Co-Founder Valerie Workman said the awards serve two purposes; to provide more Morris County youth runners with the opportunity to compete on a regional and national level and to encourage more girls to experience competitive running. “We are so excited to be able to offer these scholarships. MCTC has a long track record of success at the national level with several of our athletes achieving All-American status at the Junior Olympics. We are particularly excited to reserve eleven of the scholarships for girls. At MCTC running like a girl means running like a champion.”

The Morris County Track Club is a not-for-profit organization formed for top-tier youth athletes who want to compete in track meets sanctioned by national organizations like the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) and the USATF (United States Track & Field, the governing body for track and field, long-distance running and race walking in the United States).
