FAQ

What is the Morris County Track Club (MCTC)?

The Morris County Track Club is an unincorporated association formed for youth athletes who want to compete in track meets  sanctioned by national organizations like the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union), USATF (United States Track & Field), the governing bodies for youth track and field, long-distance running and race walking in the United States.

What is the connection between the MCTC and any other municipal track club?

MCTC is not related to, or affiliated with, any municipal track club.  In fact, the MCTC prepares for and competes in USATF sanctioned Championship meets that take place AFTER most municipal track seasons.

Who can participate in events with the MCTC?

We welcome youth athletes who enjoy the sport and are serious about attending practices, traveling to meets and striving to do their personal best. However, we reserve the right to deny membership to participants and/or parents who do not demonstrate good sportsmanship and consistency.

I was wondering if you were looking to the top X number of kids in the program....or maybe kids who placed in the Lakeland Championship Meet....or are you looking for anyone who is interested regardless of ability?

MCTC is likened to a youth travel team; we are established to compete at a very high level of completion.
The championship meet's top 5 finishers overall (by time or distance) would be great candidates for MCTC.

How much does it cost to participate with the MCTC?

See Sign Up page for current cost. Like any other travel team there are costs involved; AAU & USATF charges a mandatory membership fees for a one year youth membership.  If your child qualifies for the Junior Olympics, travel and hotel expenses could be considerable.

What do I need to do to enable my child to compete in AAU & USATF Sanctioned Events?

Only U.S. citizens, aliens living in the United States, and foreign exchange students are eligible to compete in USATF Championships. See the USATF Rules for more information www.usatf.org All athletes must be 2013 members of USATF in good standing. USATF memberships may be purchased online.
