Three Morris County Track Club Athletes Win Five Medals at USATF National Youth Indoor Track and Field Championships. Matias Pellegrino of Denville Sets Meet Record in the Triple Jump

Landover, Prince Georges County, Maryland, March 7-9– Three Morris County Track Club athletes won five medals at the USATF National Youth Indoor Championship Meet. Matias Pellegrino took first place in the13-14 Year-Old Boys Division Triple Jump setting a meet record with a jump of 11.28 meters. Pellegrino placed third in the Long Jump (5.58 meters). Nana Agyemang of Parsippany took home two medals placing fifth in the 11-12 Year Old Boys Division 55 Meter Dash with a time of 7.75 and tying for third in the Long Jump (4.68 meters). Aidan Kamp of Mendham placed second in the Boys 11-12 Long Jump (4.78).

More than 1,300 athletes competed for national honors at the USATF National Youth Indoor Track & Field Championships in Maryland. Coach Horacio Pellegrino was thrilled with the team’s results stating, “I am just so proud of our athletes. They kept their composure and relied on their training.”

Also competing at the Indoor Championships were Bayliss Simon “Girls 9-10” Long Jump, Rawle Workman “Boys 11-12” Long Jump, Noah Cooper “Boys 7-8” Long Jump and Jayner Gorospe “Boys 15-16” 55 Meter Dash. Workman made it to the final round and placed seventh jumping a personal best (4.37 meters) just 5 millimeters short of a medal. Cooper also made it to the final round and placed seventh. The top six finishers in each event received medals in a podium ceremony.

The Morris County Track Club is a not-for-profit organization formed for top-tier youth athletes who want to compete in track meets sanctioned by national organizations like the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) and the USATF (United States Track & Field, the governing body for track and field, long-distance running and race walking in the United States).
